You do realize that there is nothing in the rules that requires a defender to plant their feet for a charge, and that the rules do explicitly allow a defender to move slightly to protect themselves? By the rules Bogut just needs to "establish position" far enough from Gay to allow him to stop or change direction. When Gay chose to drop his shoulder instead of going left it became a charge.

I don’t know what it looked like from the ref’s baseline view, but from the press box live version, Bogut was moving his feet A LOT when he took that charge…
