Bobcats Get A Good Look But Miss
Down by one, the Bobcats were taking the ball out on the side. To the surprise of everyone, they decided to go for the three pointer to take a 2 point lead. I only like going for a three in that situation if you can guarantee yourself getting a real good look. The Bobcats were able to get themselves that look:

As Larry Hughes gets the basketball to inbound, Boris Diaw quickly takes a step out to make himself available for the pass. Doing this presents a quick option for the inbounder, which helps when looking to avoid a 5 second call.

As Diaw makes the catch, Raymond Felton pops out to the wing to get the ball and start the offense. Away from the ball Gerald Wallace sets a backscreen for Stephen Jackson.

As Jackson gets to the opposite block, he sets a backscreen for Larry Hughes.

After that screen, Boris Diaw sets a screen for Jackson who is curling to the top of the key. So we have a screen the screener set, which is something Larry Brown really enjoys doing out of a timeout. See an example below:

Mickael Pietrus went under the screen, and that is what frees up Jackson for the three pointer. This is a real good look, one you would expect Jackson to knock down, but he was just unable to do it. I like going for the quick three here (if you can get an open look), because if you knock it down you have a 2 point lead with a very good defense to try and get a stop. If you miss, there is still plenty of time to extend the game, and the most you will be down is 3 points. Just a shame he missed.
