Some More Help From My Friends

As I mentioned on Twitter, I recently accepted a volunteer position with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for the upcoming season.  In early October, I am going to be packing up, leaving New Jersey and moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana.  While it is a volunteer position and I’m not getting paid, but I am extremely excited about the opportunity and it is something that I have working towards for a little while.

Something that I have gotten a few e-mails/tweets about is people wondering what will happen with NBAPlaybook.  Well, the site will be around and I will still be writing here and everywhere else where I am freelancing (Basketball Prospectus/The Basketball Jones).  I hoping to post at the same level that I have been the past season (and if there is no NBA season, we will be following the EuroLeague and various international leagues), but for that to happen I need to turn to you, the readers.

My goal when I get out to Fort Wayne is not to have to pick up a part time job in addition to working with the Mad Ants and writing, however with the way things currently stand, I don’t know if that would be possible.  This is why I am accepting donations:

Like last time, the money will go to site fees and such, but in addition, this will allow me to continue to work on Playbook as much at the same rate that I have been (I have been working as close to full time on the site since the beginning) without having to take on a job that would mean less time to write and produce content for NBAPlaybook, something that I would hate to see happen.  Like last time, the donation box will be up in the upper right corner, and this will be the last time I bring it up in a post.  If you want to donate and help out, that’s fantastic.  If not, no pressure, I’m going to keep chugging along as much as I can.

Thanks for taking the time to read this guys, I feel like this site has some of the best readers/commenters around.  We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.  Thanks again everyone!

    Sebastian,

You’ve worked diligently to get this opportunity with the Mad Ants. Kudos galore!

That’s awesome, congratulations! I thought it was a shame for all of your basketball knowledge to simply be used for the enlightenment of merely spectators of the sport. I’m in college so unfortunately I won’t be able to help out your cause, but I hope you’re able to keep the sight going with the same quality you’ve put forth since the beginning.

I just have one question, would it be possible for you to put up some posts specifically about the Mad Ants? I don’t know what role you’ll have with the team, but I think it would be interesting to hear about it.

Congrats man; I’ll definitely contribute next paycheck. You’re by far my favorite basketball blogger/writer out there.
