If the end line on a basketball court is out of bounds, why is it a violation while bringing the ball inbounds if you step on the line? Hmmmmmmmm.

    Great job on the site.

Would love to see a section called Team Scouting Reports – it could have breakdowns on bnb plays or offensive sets that various teams use. Princeton, read and react, triangle, etc…

Bonus points if you can isolate a verbal or visual hand call and match it to the play!

Would love to see breakdowns on players and their bread and butter + counter moves while in the post. There aren't many big men with big men skills these days…so, it'd be nice to highlight the endangered art form.

I gotta say Sebastian, this is an amazing site. Thanks for all the analysis, made me learn so much more about the intricacies of basketball.

Would love to see an article about LBJ, and why his shooting percentages have dropped down this year. Is it shot selection, form and/or Miami's playbook?

Love the site. Could we have a topic on trying to figure out what defensive scheme the Timberwolves actually run? Its making my head hurt trying to figure out how they leave 3 point shooters open all the time

Is there any chance you guys could cover the Grizzlies – Magic game. There was an inbound play where the ball was passed to Conley up top as Gasol rolled to the lane, Conley made the pass and Gasol got an easy dunk. I would love to see that broken down to see how everything was set up.

Was wondering if you find that the play-calling of Paul Westphal has been lacking and/or lazy with the Sacramento Kings this year. Watching the ends of the last few games (that were close), my cousin and I began to wonder if there are actual plays being called with options, as in a proper play-set, or if they're just giving the ball to Evans in iso and expecting him to “create.”

I wouldn't really call his shooting percentage a substantial “drop”…it's down 1% from last year and around the same from previous years, and this year is only 2/3 complete.

Great job on the site. But I was just wondering, have you ever broken down plays from different eras? For instance, are there any variations in how the Jordan Bulls ran the triangle vs the Kobe Lakers run it? I think it would be interesting to see how coach play calling has or hasn't evolved over time. Thanks, and keep it up.

Hopefully to see comments on Heat's recent losing streak. Why they were blown out by Spurs, and how they still fell to Blazers (not a close game this time!).

How bad is Luis Scola's defense? Thanks.

What’s the difference between “Flex offense” and the Tex Winter “Triangle Offense” Could you show that when you have time?

your site is awesome, nice work

  • Jack

what about a ranking of mid range game?

  • Ev

Could you possibly do any analysis of Rick Adelman’s offense done in the style you did the Triangle & FLEX (which were excellently done)?

  • RT

Amazing job with this site! Absolutely fantastic! So exactly how many job offers for an assistant coach have you got? ;)

  • Yinka Dare’s 1st assist

    http://www.coachesclipboard.net/FlexOffense.html

Basically if you run a flex offense teams are going to switch a lot, which can be a good thing if you have players that can create favorable match-ups.

  • Yinka Dare’s 1st assist

obviously though you dont want to switch too much, its better to fight through the screen in most cases, but NBA players can be lazy and not play d the full 24 seconds. Sometimes a switch at the end of a shot clock might not be such a terrible thing, like with what the bulls did with Lebron. They had some sucess having Gibson switch to stay on him because hes long and nearly the same size as lebron. All depends on match ups.

  • Memorize03

Loved the Clipboard Awards. Any chance of that coming back???

  • RSBuff

How about a look at the Mavericks’ defense? Why are they ranking 3rd in defensive efficiency (and haven’t allowed 100 points since their third game) despite losing Tyson Chandler?

The most recent post for me is “Portland struggles without Aldridge”, dated Feb 17, 2012. This is even when I click Home. Is this happening for anyone else?

  • Mj23

Also, I know there are newer posts because there are newer videos on Sebastian’s Youtube channel: NBAPlaybook.

  • Mj23

Yay. Thanks Sebastian. Both your Grantland and NBAPlaybook pages are now updated. It might help to have an explanation of the similarities and diffs between the Grantland vs. NBAPlaybook sites somewhere like in the About. Thanks!
